Which Builder Gel to choose?

 

The nail industry is forever evolving, with new trends and styles coming from all over the world. Whereas, acrylic enhancements used to be the front runner in desired product, gel has taken over, especially builder gels.

They come in bottles and pots, clear and various neutral shades, are easily removed – unlike hard gel, and give good enough strength to rival any acrylic nail. They also create a more natural looking nail for the clients that want to grow their natural nails without the thick bulky acrylic applications.

 

Today we thought it would be good to dive into our Builder Gels that we offer here at Beauty Gallery, with their unique selling points, along with some troubleshooting to help you decide which one will be best suited for you and your clients needs.

CND™ PLEXIGEL is a vegan, and a non animal tested product formulated without animal derived ingredients.
It comes in a range of classic colours, from Clear, Oat Milk, through to Milky Mauve, along with a Bonder (Base Coat) and Top Coat.
Fully soak -able for removal, although it is recommended to remove the bulk of product with an E-file before using acetone to soak off.
Has a wide bottle neck and short brush for an easy application and picking up product.
Works beautifully be itself, or underneath CND Shellac Colours.

 

If applied too thin, can cause the Plexigel to crack, which could result in damage to the natural nails.
It must be used in conjunction the Plexigel Bonder, not a normal base coat. Bonder acts as an attraction layer and an anchor for the Builder to sit on.
Has a higher price point at $48.50+gst.

Has a medium sized brush, causing a thicker application which then leads to uneven levels and more shaping required. It is also tricky to apply neatly around the smaller nails and edges.
